Giant Knitted Poufs

A new concept store has opened near to where I work, and whilst taking a stroll past one lunchtime I spotted these amazing giant knitted poufs, made by designer Christien Meindertsma.

I was trying to come up with ideas on how they might be made, and kept coming back to visions of someone trying to negotiate giant knitting needles, it looked extremely difficult in my head so I kept dismissing it, but lo and behold....

The First Post

And here it is; yet another blog about knitting. Slightly self indulgent I am sure but, why not? There won't just be knitting, I enjoy sewing and crafting and various other hobbies. By writing this blog I am hoping to share my hobbies with the online community and pay tribute to the people that inspire me.
I am part way through a couple of projects as always. At the moment I am trying my hand at a lace pattern. It's the first time I've tried it so there are a few botches, but I have managed to disguise them. The pattern is for a shawl. I can't remember the last time I saw someone under the age of 90 wearing one however, I loved the pattern, the colour of the wool seemed to suit it and sometime the enjoyment of just knitting is what inspires me rather than a practical use for the end product. I have a couple of ideas of how I am going to use it when finished but I'll save that for a future post. Here are some 'work in progress' photos. Enjoy.
